Henrik Stenson: LIV Golf Vs Ryder Cup

Henrik Stenson won on his debut LIV Golf event after being sacked as team Europe’s Ryder Cup captain after signing with the Saudi backed LIV circuit.

‘I played like a captain’: Henrik Stenson has a jab at the Ryder Cup after LIV Golf win

Ryder Cup Captaincy

Stenson was stripped of the European Ryder Cup captaincy after deciding to join the breakaway LIV Golf circuit. This has been a huge talking point lately in the world of golf as more and more players are joining LIV Golf and leaving the DP World Tour as well as the US PGA Tour.

Former U.S. president Donald Trump heaped praise toward the LIV Golf Series and even took part in the pre tournament pro-am. He even happened to hit the 1st tee shot which must be up there with the pressure he felt being the president of the United States!

LIV Golf Invitational Bedminster

Stenson shook off the controversy by winning the LIV Golf Invitational Bedminster on Sunday. He won by 2 shots over Matthew Wolf with a total of 11-under in his debut event.

He carded a 2-under 69 at Trump National Golf Club to take the victory. This means that he took home a whopping $4 million individual winner’s prize as well as a share of the $1.5 million from his Majesticks team’s runner-up finish in the team event.

The Big Question

Is the DP World Tour and PGA Tour being fair and should golfers be able to play in the LIV Golf events as well as other tours around the world?
